Nevsky Prospekt


Nevsky Prospekt is a well-known street in Russia. As there are several alluring places situated on this road, many people from across the world come here to explore them. Alexandre Jean Baptiste LeBlond, a French architect has planned this street. This street is named after the national hero, Alexander Yaroslavich, who fought in the Battle of Neva.

In the extreme point of the street, there are Admiralty, Alexander Nevsky Lavra, Moscow Railway Station and Vosstaniya Square. Some of the most-visited tourist destinations of this area include Kazan Cathedral, Anichkov Bridge, Arts Square and the Russian Museum, Art Nouveau Book house, Rastrelliesque Stroganov Palace, Catherine the Great (a monument), and Russian National Library. Several restaurants, hotels and nightclubs are also situated in the area that adds to the dynamic nightlife of Saint Petersburg.

Some of the large shopping malls are located in Nevsky Prospeckt. Those malls include DLT, Gostiny Dvor and Passage. Starting from garments to footwear to household items are sold in those shopping venues. With the course of time, many new shopping malls are coming up in this city.

Gostiny Dvor -The best-known Shopping Mall at Nevsky Prospekt

Gostiny Dvor is one of the best-known shopping malls in Saint Petersburg. It was designed by Jean-Baptiste M. Vallin de la Mothe. There are plenty of shops in this market venue. Presently, it is the biggest center for
shopping in this city. Since the 18th century, the shopping is known to be the shoppers’ paradise. The shopping mall is easily accessible by metro rail which lies close to Nevsky Prospekt. On the first floor, there are shoe, cosmetic, souvenir and music stores, whereas, on the 2nd floor, there are garment stalls.

Bolshoi Gostiny Dvor

Bolshoi Gostiny Dvor is a department store offering retail goods. Variety of decorative items, garments for male, female and children, jewelry and sporting equipments are sold here. It is situated at 35 Nevsky Prospekt. On Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays the department store offers service to the public from 10 am to 9 pm. On the other hand, on Sundays, people can enjoy their shopping from 11 am to 9 pm.

Passage Trading House

Passage Trading House is quite known for its wonderful collection of fashionable clothes. The customers can also get antique pieces and jewelry sets in the famous shopping center. Passage Trading House remains open from 10 am to 9 pm on weekdays, whereas on Sundays the customers can shop from 11 am to 9 pm.

Nevsky Prospekt of Saint Petersburg is a burgeoning commercial center that offers the customers with an opportunity to purchase variety of goods from household items to fashionable clothes and accessories.
