The Monument of Fiodor Dostoyevsky is located amidst the busy area of Vladimirskaya Ploshchad beside the Vladimir Cathedral of Saint Petersburg. Designed by Kholina, the beautiful sculpture shows a thoughtful Dostoyevsky in sitting posture, with one leg on another.
Fiodor Dostoyevsky- A Marvelous Architectural Creation
Saint Petersburg had no official monument of Fiodor Dostoyevsky till the year of 1997. However, in 1988, the Dostoyevsky Museum’s director decided to institute the sculpture of the Great Russian novelist in the garden of the Vladimirskaya Cathedral.
The beautiful sculpture was finally given shape by Kholina who had won an award at a local competition of the Saint Petersburg city. After much deliberations, it was decided that the great sculpture would be placed at the Vladimirskaya Ploshchad. The statue was instituted on May 1997 with several dignatories,

important officials, Mayor, and close relatives of Dostoyevsky marking the special occasion.
