The Maritime Victory Park, founded in 1945, is situated in Krestovsky Island, St Petersburg. It is a memorial that also serves the purpose of a center of sporting activity. The park commemorates the victory of the Allied forces over Germany during the Second World War.

The total area of the park is 243 hectares including the Kirov Stadium. The park is very well decorated and the flower beds, shrubs and trees are excellently maintained. The “Central Avenue” serves as the axis of the park. The “Avenue of Friendship” runs parallel to the Central Avenue. This avenue has lines of trees that were planted by people from different countries of the world. The names of the countries are displayed in plaques made of granite, at the bottom of each tree.
There are a number of statues in the park that commemorates different events and personalities. One such statue is that of the leader of Leningrad’s Communist Party, Sergei Kirov. The statue stands at the point where the central avenue ends. Besides this statue, there are other structures like, “the Black Sea Fisherman” and “Girl Greeting the Victors”, both of which are made of bronze, placed in avenues running parallel to the Central Avenue. An allegorical depiction of the fall of Germany in Second World War is displayed in another memorial in the park towards the southern part.
