Ella Adaiewsky was an eminent composer who lived from 1846 to 1926. Ella Adaiewsky of Saint Petersburg was born of Dr. George Julius von Schultz and his wife Theodora a piano teacher, on 10th Feb, 1846. Composer Ella Adaiewsky grew up and lived as a musicologist and one of the greatest pianists of St. Petersburg, Russia.

Ella Adaiewsky born as 'Elizabeth of Schultz' was the eldest of her five siblings. Ella in 1852 took her first piano lessons from her mother Theodora, and followed them by lessons from Adolph Henselt, a concert pianist and reputed composer. Between 1859 and 1861, she was a student of Klaviervirtuosin.
At the age of 14, pianist Ella Adaiewsky gave her first professional performance in the court of Count Sumarokow. She was honored with a golden bracelet for her performance. During her childhood and early youth, Adaiewsky used to practice for 10 hours daily.

Musician Ella Adaiewsky began playing as a regular

professional from 1861 onwards. She used to contribute her income to her family. From 1864 to 1869 she undertook further piano lessons at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. While developing on her skills she composed 'Free Artist', her first independent piano composition. Next year onwards, from 1870 she became popular as 'Ella Adaiewsky' instead of Elizabeth Schultz.
Thereafter she started working with stalwarts like Richard Wagner, Franz Liszt, Charles Gounod, and Johannes Brahms. Ella Adaiewsky performed in Vienna, Paris, and other major European towns and capital cities.

The works of Ella Adaiewsky include 2 operas, chorus for the Russian Orthodox Church, numerous songs, piano concertos and chamber music. She has written essays on ancient Greek music, folk music, festivals, travel, art and culture.
Ella Adaiewsky, the renowned musicologist breathed her last in 1926 on 29th July in Bonn.
