Constructed in the year of 1950, the Egyptian Bridge is the foremost bridge of Russia in Saint Petersburg that was made up of metal. Built across River Fontanka, the architecture of the Egyptian Bridge was designed by P. Areshev and V. Vasilkovsky.
Unique Architecture of the Egyptian Bridge
The Egyptian Bridge of Saint Petersburg supports modern architectural features. The single lane bridge is equipped with a double frame that is joined to provide support to the huge structure. The cross sections of the metallic bridge are joined by iron rods to erect a strong structure.
The Egyptian Bridge is constructed at a 20 degree angle over Fontanka River. The bridge is beautifully

decorated with elaborate designs on its railings and pedestals. The pedestal at the entry point of the bridge is adorned with sphinxes made out of cast iron.
On either side of the lane of the Egyptian Bridge are beautifully ornamented lamp posts to light the bridge at night. To ensure safe transportation of vehicles, the Egyptian Bridge is equipped with modern traffic lights.
