Central Railway Museum is a wonderful and interesting museum in St. Petersburg Russia. This museum is also one of the best museums in Russia. It is situated in the construction and communication unit of St Petersburg University.
The building in which the museum is housed was built in 1902. The museum exhibits wide variety of locomotives ranging from the first steam locomotive in Russia to the modern trains.
Exhibits of Central Railway Museum
The museum has a wide collection of railway locomotives. Different models of engines, bridges and carriages can been seen here. Rail transport components are also displayed at the museum. Among all the exhibits, the models of trains are some of the best ones.

As the space in the museum is not sufficient for permanent exhibitions at St. Petersburg, the models are mostly displayed at the temporary exhibitions that are organized in various places like schools and colleges. The models are also displayed at a different location named Parovozny Muzei, little away from the city. Visitors can travel to this place by a local train from Vitebsk Railway Station.

The museum is located at Sadovaya Ulitsa 50, St. Petersburg. The nearest metro is the Sennaya Ploschad or Sadovaya. The museum is open from Sunday to Thursday between 11am and 5:30pm. The museum is closed on Fridays and Saturdays and all the last Thursdays of the month.
