One of the prominent novelists of Russia, Ayn Rand was born in St. Petersburg on the 2nd of February in 1905. Ayn Rand was affected by the prevailing political and social conditions of Russia. The Bolshevik Revolution of Russia had a great impact on her personal life which was later reflected in her writings.
The Making of Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand always aspired to become a writer. For this, she took up History as one of the major subjects to get a deeper insight into the social and political conditions of that time. Ayn Rand completed her graduation in 1924 and began to work as a tourist guide.
In the year of 1926, Ayn Rand went to America and never returned back to Russia. In America, she started focusing on her career as a writer and wrote profusely on various subjects. She began writing from 1930. Her first novel, We the Living was published in 1933. However, the novel gained its due recognition only after twenty five years.
Ayn Rand shot to fame with her second novel, The Fountainhead, which was an instant success. Ayn Rand had earned $50,000 from the sale of the novel.

The Fountainhead was published by Bobbs- Merrill after the novel was rejected by twelve publishing houses.
Ayn Rand began working on her next novel Atlas Shrugged and finished writing the novel in the next fourteen years. Published in the year of 1957, Atlas Shrugged was one of the best literary productions of Ayn Rand.
