Anna Pavlova


One of the renowned ballet dancers of Russia, Anna Pavlova was born on the 12th of February in 1881 at Ligovo. Born out of wedlock to Lazar Polyakov and Lyubov Fedorovna Pavlova, Anna Pavlova was educated at Imperial Ballet School of St. Petersburg.

Early Life of Anna Pavlova

Anna Pavlova had spent her childhood at Logovo with her grandmother. Since childhood, Anna Pavlova had nurtured the dream of becoming a successful ballet dancer. In order to pursue her dream, she got admitted in Imperial Ballet School, where she would take dance and music class for eight hours. Anna Pavlova completed her graduation at the tender age of eighteen years.

Achievements of Anna Pavlova

Anna Pavlov made her first stage appearance on 19th September, 1899. She was a member of the Mariinsky Ballet during the period from 1899 to 1907. Mikhail Fokin was her choreographer and her partner in many of ballet dances. Anna Pavlova shot to fame by acting in
The Dying Swan. In the year of 1908, Anna Pavlova joined the ballet troupe of Sergei Diaghilev for acting in the Ballet Russes or Russian Seasons.

Anna Pavlova met her dream man, Victor D'Andre in 1904 and was married to him in 1911. Victor D'Andre and Anna Pavlova, together formed a ballet group that performed across the globe. Anna Pavlov's first venture was the Metropolitan Opera House in 1910. For most part of her life, as an active ballet dancer, Anna Pavlova performed in North America, Australia, Central America, Europe and Asia. She loved to perform in the rural corners of the globe.

As an active ballet dancer, Anna Pavlova would give eight to nine stage appearances over the week. However, Anna Pavlova was detected with severe pneumonia on her way to Haage. She left the mortal world on 23rd January in 1931 in Haage.

The brilliant painter, Valentin Serov had made her immortal through the beautiful portrait of Anna Pavlova. Anna Pavlova is still remembered as one of the best dancers of Russia, who enthralled the audience with her brilliant performances.
