Alexander Military Law Academy


Alexander Military Law Academy was set up in Saint Petersburg to cater military education to the students of Russia. This educational institution of Russia was established by the then czar of Russia, Alexander II. Alexander Military Law Academy in Saint Petersburg was founded in the year 1866.

In Saint Petersburg, the officers working at military court department were trained at the Alexander Military Law Academy. This institution was associated with another institution of Russia known as the Auditing School that was founded in 1832. Officers were also offered military education at this institution.

The institution offering classes on military education
came to be known as Military Law Academy in Russia from 1867. Officers from Bulgarian and Serbian army were also admitted at Alexander Military Law Academy from 1880 onwards. From the year 1908, the institution came to be known as Alexander Military Law Academy or AMLA. This institution was set up at 96 Moika Embankment.

Initially, the duration of the courses offered in Alexander Military Law Academy was of 2 years. However, the academic institution was recognized as an institution for higher education after the duration of courses was increased to 3 years. After graduating from Alexander Military Law Academy students could secure jobs in the military court department of the country. The Alexander Military Law Academy was closed down in 1917.
