Dukhan City

The city of Dukhan lies on the western coast of the Qatar peninsula in the Arabian Gulf. It is situated between 25° 25' 47North latitude and 50° 47' 9East longitude. Lying to the west of Doha, Dukhan is at a distance of over 80 kms from that city. The discovery of oil in the area adjoining the city contributed to its prosperous development.

The oil field in Dukhan covers an area of about 80 kms approximately. There are 4 reservoirs in Dukhan from south to north. These are Fahahil, Khatiyah, and Jaleha/Dihab. Of these, 3 are oil reservoirs while the fourth one holds non associated gas.

Dukhan has a number of good sea beaches like Al-Wakrah and Umm Said. These coupled with a favorable climate attract a lot of tourists to the locale. Tourism in Dukhan is therefore quite thriving.In fact, the fishing industry in Dukhan owes its success to the close proximity of the city to the water of the Arabian Gulf. Fish like hamour, lobster, shrimps and crabs form the common diet of the inhabitants.

The availability of the white and orange taxis or the limousines in the city makes movement and transportation in Dukhan rather comfortable.

Qahahil, Bi'r Zikrit, Al Uqayr, Jusayrah and Al Khattiyah are some of the cities and towns that lie close to the city of Dukhan. The airports within short distance from Dukhan are Shaikhisa, Doha INTL, Al Udeid Ab and Bahrain INTL.
