Público is one of the top daily newspapers in Portugal and has been trusted by a large number of readers for over a decade. It has been gathered from the history of Público that it was published for the first time in 1990. The present editor of Público is José Manuel Fernandes, while the first editor was Vicente Jorge Silva.
The on line edition of Público is also very popular as it includes nearly all those, that are found in the print edition. It is one of the important mainstream newspapers in Portugal that have an on line version. Initially, it was free, but from 2005 onwards it could be accessed only through subscription. Again in the following year, it once again switched back to its free HTML version.
In order to increase the sale and readership of Público, it was given a new and attractive look in 2007. The entire newspaper was reorganized and redesigned to

provide readers with better content, digital images, text and more. The main newspaper is divided into several sections. There is an important news story , that cover 2 pages and then there is a section of 8 or10 pages. This section deals with all forms of Portuguese news, including topics like economics, political, health, sports, justice and more. The newspaper also carries major articles on international and regional news. Publico has devoted 3 or 4 pages to local news and another 3 pages to local advertisements. High ABC demographics of Publico is favorable for attracting advertising revenue.
