Lisbon is not only reputed as one of the most beautiful port cities, but it is one of the best shopping destinations of Europe. Lisbon markets have a lot to offer, from wines to porcelain and different leather goods. The capital city is also famous for azulejo tiles, fado music and pottery. In Lisbon, flea markets exist side by side very posh and pricey markets. The main markets of Lisbon are:
  • La Ribera : It is a busy food market swarming with people especially tourists. The impressive two storey market of Lisbon sells all food items. Tourists can find fish, vegetables, meat and fresh fish in the ground floor and the second floor sells all kinds of port, olive oils, wines, different kinds of cheeses, and flowers. La Ribera is closed on Sundays and on other weekdays it is open from 05:00hrs to 14:00 hrs.
  • Feira da Ladra is a bustling flea market located in Campo de Santa Clara. Tourists flock to this market to buy cheap clothes, CDs, twee handicraft items and contraband. This market
    offers good at cheap prices and bargaining is a common practice.

  • Praca de Espanha is popularly known is Portuguese as Centro Comercial do Ceu Aberto, which means the shopping mall under the open sky. Every thing under the sky is available in this market ranging from mobile phones, watches and car stereos. Though the market is congested, it is one of the favored shopping destinations of both the Portuguese and the foreign visitors visiting this city. The market is open from 6:30 to 14:30 hrs from Monday to Saturday

  • Mercado Campo de Ourique is a plush market, located in Rua Coelho da Rocha. It is a relatively pricey market selling flowers, and salted cod fish, all types of meat and fresh flowers and vegetables. On Mondays no fish is sold in this market. The market timings are from 9:00 to 18:00 hrs from Monday to Saturday.
