Jose Dominguez was born on 16 February 1974 in Lisbon. His professional football career started in 1994 when he registered for the club of Birmingham City. In spite of his fair performance, the club was relegated from the first division of English Premiership League.
In 1995, he returned to Portugal and served as the registered footballer of Sporting Lisbon. He had no major success during his stay with Sporting. He again

moved to England and joined the famous club of Tottenham Hotspur for the season of 1997-2000. In his debut match for the club, he won popularity by winning a penalty for the team. In 1997 his team won the Worthington Cup.
In the span of three years with Tottenham, Jose Dominguez earned a huge fan following. Though his goal count was not high (4 goals from 45 appearances) while playing for Tottenham, he won the hearts of the club fans by displaying his acrobatic skills.
From 2000 to 2005 Dominguez moved to different countries like Germany, Qatar, Brazil. In Germany he played for the club of 1.FC Kaiserslautern from 2000 to 2002. From 2002 to 2005 he appeared for Al-Ahly. He decided to put an end to his football career after playing for the Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in 2005.
After his retirement from the professional football, Jose Dominguez engaged himself in the promotion of the game of football. He is reported to be participating in beach soccer games with other football stars in Portugal.
