Warsaw is the Poland Capital. It is also the largest city of the country and the capital of the Masovian Voivodeship. It has number of industries such as manufacturing, steel, electrical engineering and automotive. Warsaw became the seat of the General Sejm for the first time in 1529. The city remained the capital of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth until 1795. It was then captured by the Kingdom of Prussia and made it the capital of the province of New East Prussia. After the liberation from Napoleon's army in 1807, it was made the capital of the newly created Duchy of Warsaw. It became the capital of the newly independent Poland in 1918. It is the political center of the country and home to the Polish Parliament, the Presidential Office and the Supreme Court. Having suffered dreadful damage during the Swedish-Prussian Wars, Warsaw reincarnated and the entry of Poland into the European Union enhanced the economy of the city.
Area & Location:Located on the Vistula River, Warsaw lies in the heartland of the Masovian Plain. The average altitude of the city is 100m above sea level. It covers a total area of 516.9 sq. km. It is a home to 1,697,596 people.
