Marek Belka was appointed as the Prime Minister of Poland on 29th March, 2004. He was sworn into office on 2nd May. At that time, Belka failed to get enough support from the parliament. On 24th June, he managed to receive vote of confidence in the Lower House of Parliament of Poland.
Career of Marek Belka
Marek Belka was born on 9th January, 1952 in Lodz. He completed his graduation from University of Lodz, where he studied in the Socio-Economic Department. Belka completed M.A. in Economics and Foreign Trade. He also completed Ph.D. in Habilitation and also in Economics. From Columbia University, Belka received the honor for his postdoctoral degree. From University of Chicago, he earned American Council of Learned Societies' Scholarship.

Professional Life of Marek Belka
From 1990 to 1996, Belka worked as a consultant in the World Bank and with Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Poland. As a consultant with the World Bank, he dealt with projects in Eastern and Central Europe, Uzbekistan, Russia, China and Poland as well.
From 1997 to 2001, Marek Belka served as Adviser to Albania's Prime Minister. From 2002 November till 2003 June, he was the Senior Advisor to JP Morgan for Eastern and Central Europe.
On 27th December 2005, Mark Belka was appointed as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNCEF).
