Leo Rosten was an academician and writer. He was born in Lodz, Poland on 11th April in 1908. When he was only 3 years old, his parents migrated to United States. In 1930, Rosten completed his graduation from University of Chicago and after that he did Ph.D from there in 1937.
Leo Rosten did the commendable job of introducing many Americans to Jewish language through his writings. He had penned down many inspiring and famous quotes. He is most popular for the stories of night school "prodigy" Hyman Kaplan. This was first published during 1930s in The New Yorker. It was also reprinted later in two volumes. Rosten also wrote by the pseudonym Leonard Q. Ross. He died on 19th February in 1997.
