Julian Tuwim is a well-know poet of Poland who was born on 13th September, 1894 in the city of Lodz. He graduated in 1914. He studied philosophy and law at the Warsaw University between 1916 and 1918. He is remembered for his notable contribution to the Polish literature. He founded the 'kamander' group of experimental poets along with Jaroslaw Iwaszkiewicz and Antoni Slonimski in the year 1919.

His poetries throw a deep light on the everyday life and

its triviality. His style was using dialogue and 'regular' language in his poetries. He was in favor of using satire in his poems. One of the best satiric poems composed by him is 'The Ball at the Opera' (1936). He worked with several cabarets like Czarny kot, Banda, Qui pro Quo, Stara Banda and Cyrulik Warszawski. He was appointed as the staff writer of Literary News (Wiadomosci Literackie) in 1924. There he wrote a weekly column 'Camera Obscura'. He also wrote for magazines like Szpilki and Cyrulik Warszawski.
He went to USA and settled there in 1942, where he wrote his epic poem 'Kwiaty Polskie' or 'Polish Flowers'. A manifesto was published by him in 1944 named 'My, Zydzi polscy' (We, Polish Jews). He went back to Poland in 1946. He also wrote several poems for children. Yelizaveta Tarakhovskaya, a Russian Soviet poet translated his poems for children in Russian language. He was the artistic director of Teatre Nowy of Lodz from 1947 to 1950.

- doctor honoris causa title by the University of Lodz in 1949
- Pen Club Award for translations from Puszkin in 1935
- National Award in 1951
This great poet breathed his last breath on 27th December, 1953 in Zakopane.
