Fotofestiwal, Lodz is one of the biggest festivals of Poland. It takes place during spring time. A number of eminent artists, professional photographers, and individuals interested in photography arrive in Lodz during this festival. The festival was started in Lodz in 2002. The plan of holding the event in the city was an unprompted decision. The idea of conducting such an event was suggested by some of the members of the Institute of Culture Sociology, Lodz.
Foundation of Visual Education in Lodz
The event attracted huge crowd and gained immense popularity, which prompted the further arrangement of the same event in the following years. The popularity of the photo festival in Lodz, leads to the development of the 'Foundation of Visual Education' Organization in the city. Since 2003 till date, this organization carries out all responsibility of conducting this event. Foundation of Visual Education Organization has also been the mastermind behind the success of the European Union Photography Festivals in recent past.
Lodz Fotofestiwal has earned the city much recognition in Poland. With an objective of promoting the works of

the amateur photographers, the first photo festival was held in Lodz. The event was primarily concentrated on the exhibitions, presentation of documentaries and competitions.
In the next year, the event was bigger. It focused on all that happened in the previous year, as well as it emphasized on the following areas:
- Lectures
- Workshops
- Slide show and presentation
Over the years, the photo festival of Lodz has introduced a number of new themes and exhibited more creative works. This has attrcated more tourists in Lodz during the time of the fotofestiwal.
2008 fotofestiwal in Lodz
In 2008, the fotofestiwal is going to be held in the Month of May. It will start from 13th May and will continue till 31st of May. The theme of the event this year is based on 'Made in China'.
