Central Museum of Textiles had its birth in the White Factory under the guidance of Ludwik Geyer. The Museum was built in the 19th century. It stands at the city center and was opened to the public for visit in the year 1960. The Central Museum of Textiles in Lodz houses artifacts of the post 1945 era. The museum houses collections of the artistic textiles, which were made by employing traditional methods. Guests to the Central Museum of Textiles of Lodz can also visualize samples and fabrics, cotton making machines and tools, carpets, embroideries, rugs of the Asia, Africa, South America and Europe.
The Museum was founded in the 19th century. It had its roots in the White Factory of Lodz. The White Factory of Lodz was the first automated multi- department mill in Lodz. The Museum stands at the city center and was opened to the public for visit in the year 1960. The white painted walls of the building is the characteristic feature of the Museum, which differentiated it from the other brick buildings. Today, it is one of the important Lodz attractions.

artistic textiles, which were made by using conventional processes.The traditional methods were the valued contributions of artists like Helena Bukowska, Eleonora Plutynska, Anna Slendziewska and the famous Magdelena Abakanowicz. The other renowned artists of the then period also included Maria Chojnacka, Jolanta Owidzka, Andrzej Rajch and many others. These famous artists have made the Polish weaving an international art by their valued contributions. The works include the tapestries, woven paintings, three dimensional fabrics and the sculptures.
Guests to the Central Museum of Textiles of Lodz can also visualize samples and fabrics, cotton making machines and tools, carpets, embroideries, rugs of the Asia, Africa, South America and Europe. The Lodz Central Museum of Textiles has a rich collection of 20 Polish rugs of the 18th and 20th century. Apart from this the Museum also houses accessories and dresses of both male and female of that time.
The event of International Triennial of Tapestry is conducted in the Central Museum of Textiles. Visitors can enter the Museum from Saturday to Sunday between 11 am and 4 pm. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the Museum is open from 9 am to 5 pm. It can be accessed between 11 am and 7 pm on every Thursday. On Mondays and public holidays the Museum remains closed.
