Manila Zoo or Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden was opened on 25th July 1959. The zoo is spread across an area of 5.5 hectares. There are many things worth studying at the zoo in Manila. The zoo is the residence to about 500 animals at present. The map of Manila Zoo, Philippine is displayed inside. Apart from tigers, lions, elephants and hippos there are crocodiles, bearcat and long-tailed macaques.
As the tourists enter Manila zoo, the Indian elephants are the first to welcome them. The larger mammals and the monkeys are in the back section of the zoo. Tourists can see the Kinder Zoo on the left hand side after entering the zoo premises. Kinder Zoo has been made especially for the children, where they can touch and pat some animals.

There is a large pond with a small island in its center. Makeshift boats are provided and the visitors can paddle round the island. There are 106 different species of animals in the zoo. Out of the 106 species there are:
- 63 species of reptiles
- 30 different kinds of mammals
- 13 types of birds
There are canteens in the zoo premises, which offer refreshments to the visitors.
Location of Manila Zoo
The Manila zoo is in close proximity to Harrison Plaza Shopping Mall. The zoo is located along Adriatico Street. The tourists can reach the zoo by taxis.
