Brief History
Manila Standard was launched in the year 1987, February 11. The newspaper belonged to the Standard Publications, which was founded by the Manuel Elizalde. The Standard Publications was bought by Andres Soriano III in 1989 and was renamed as the Kagitingan Publications. Further in June 1991, Alfonso Yuchengco, a group of businessman bought the company and renamed it as Kagitingan Printing Press Inc. The company was incorporated in the Kamahalan Publishing Corporation. Finally in 1997, Enrique K. Razon Jr bought the Soriano group and also the shares of the Yuchengcos and became the owner of both the press and the publishing corporation.
