Moro is one of the Manila ethnic groups. As per the 2005 census, this ethnic group of Manila makes up 5.25% of the total Philippine population thus making them the 6th largest ethnic group in Philippines. They are the followers of Islam religion. The word 'Moro' comes from the Spanish word 'Moor'. Bangsamoro is mainly inhabited by this ethnic group. The other cities where Moros have started inhabiting are Cebu, Manila and Baguio.

However, in present times, Datus see to the administrative programs in Moro societies and also administer the Muslim law (Sharia).
Moro Ethnic Groups
Moro comprises 10 ethnic groups. These ethnic groups are believed to have originated from Taiwan and are classified as Austronesians. They are the Maguindanaons, Tausug, Maranao, Samal, Banguingui, Yakan, Sangirs, Ilanons, Jama Mapuns and the Melabugnans. Each Moro ethnic group differs in their culture, language and identity.
