Batasang Pambansa was the ex-parliamentary building of Philippines. Ideally situated at the Batasan Road of Quezon City, it is also known as Batasan. It was founded in 1978 as an interim assembly. Finally, it became an official body in the year of 1984. It was one of the two unicameral parliaments of Philippines. The other is the Malolos Congress.
The former Congress that was established under the 1935 Commonwealth constitution was replaced by Batasang Pambansa under the constitution of 1973. The members of the Batasang Pambansa were elected from highly urbanized cities, provinces and districts of Metropolitan Manila. It had representatives from industrial sector, agricultural sector and those chosen from among the members of the Cabinet by the President. They were appointed for a period of 6 years.

The construction of the Batasang Pambansa complex began in 1950s. But it took a long time to get completed due to lack of funds. The legislative branch became bicameral under the constitution of 1987. The House of Representatives continued in the Great Hall whereas the offices of the old Batasang Pambansa occupied the grounds of the complex.
