Within the framework of Manila administration, the mayor is the head of the executive branch of the city. The legislative department is under the control of the vice-mayor. The legislative branch of the Manila government is composed of the elected councilors of the city. The smallest unit of the local government of Manila is known as barangay.
The current mayor of Manila City is Alfredo Lim. The mayor can be elected consecutively for three terms (9 years). He can be re-elected to the office after an interruption of one term. Isko Morenothe presently holds the office of the vice-mayor. There are a total of 897 barangays in Manila. The administration of Manila barangay is managed and controlled by its own chairperson and councilors.
Further, the barangays of Manila are divided into 100 zones that are again broken into 16 administrative districts. This makes the administrative work easier. The 16 administrative districts of Manila are as follows:

A total of six representatives are elected to the lower legislative branch of the Philippines-the House of Representatives. The six Congressional districts of Manila are represented by each of these representatives.
