In 1998, the state college of Cebu turned into Cebu Normal University. It began its journey as a normal school. In 1901, the Philippine Normal School was established in the country, under which many provincial normal schools were established. Of them Cebu Normal School was one. The school was associated with Cebu High School and has been supervised by PNS, till 1915. After that, both Cebu Normal University or CNS and CHS were separated from PNS. However, they were still allied. CNS became a separate entity in 1925. It opened up a new building at Plaza Esportiva. Currently, this building has become the administration zone of the Cebu Normal University.
