Cebu International School

Cebu International School is one of the pioneer educational institutions of Philippines. This institute was established in 1924. At that time, the school was named as Cebu American School, which housed only 5 rooms. Today, this school comprises Pre School, Middle School and International Baccalaureate levels of education.

Cebu International School or CIS is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of 10 elected members. The trustees are selected from the international parent community of the school. CIS follows English as the medium of instruction. The academic session of the school runs from August to May.

Departments of Cebu International School
There are various departments in Cebu International School which are manned by experienced faculty members. Some of these departments are as follows:

There are 2 other departments in CIS namely ESL and EMC. ESL provides special training on English reading, writing and speaking skills to the non-natives. On the other hand, EMC provides information access to the students and faculties through proper resources and infra structure.

Pre School program in Cebu International School
The Cebu International School offers a number of educational programs to the students. The pre school programs of CIS are as follows:

• Classes on foreign language provide lessons on Filipino, Mandarin and Spanish.
• CIS preschool education system include 5 day learning program, which provides instructions for 5 and ½ hours.

Middle School Programs offered by CIS
Education system of CIS is categorized in many departments. Middle School is one of them. Some of the middle school programs of CIS are as follows:

• IB Program
• 5 day program, with 6 and ½ hours instruction
• UNESCO Associated Schools Project
• Classes on foreign language provide lessons on Filipino, German and Spanish.
• Elective Courses are offered on Economics, Information Technology, Art, Drama, Physical Education, Journalism and Music.

Admission in CIS
Students have to appear in an entrance examination, where their understanding of language and proficiency in mathematics are judged by the examiner. Previous performance record has to be submitted by the students in the time of admission.

Activities in CIS
Students in CIS can participate in many sports and activities. Classes on following sports are provided by CIS to the students.

• Volleyball
• Rock climbing

Apart from this, students of CIS can also participate in Rugby and Rafting.
