The oldest university in Pakistan, University of the Punjab is renowned for its excellent administration and wide range of exciting courses.
Among the Lahore universities, University of the Punjab is the oldest and the largest one. The Punjab University of Lahore is the country's one of the prestigious seats of higher studies. The century old university has produced many world famous personalities including Noble prizewinners Dr. Har Gobind Khorana and Dr. Abdus Salam.
Down the Memory Lane
The oldest university in the Pakistan, University of the Punjab was established by the British. It was their fourth similar initiative after the universities in Bombay, Madras and Calcutta. The blue print of the creation of the university was drawn on 14th January 1882 in Shimla. Dr. G.W. Leither, the first registrar of the university, and Professor A.C. Woolner had immense contribution towards the establishment of the university. His effort is immemorial. After the independence in 1947, many more universities were established in the country, but the importance of University of the Punjab has never died down.

campuses – Quaid i Azam Campus, Gujranwala Campus, Khanspur Campus and Allama Iqbal Campus.The university authority provides excellent facilities for the students, teachers and other staffs. It boasts of 22 hostels, including 4 women’s hostels.There are residential facilities for the university staff also. A well equipped medical health service and opportunities of sports and games are two of the other in-campus facilities offered by the university. Apart from these, the university provides Internet access, library, laboratories and other regular facilities.
