The University of Management and Technology, Lahore (UMT) was established in 1990. It was previously known as Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM). The University of Management and Technology is chartered with the University of Punjab. It has established itself as a pioneer in the field of management and technology.
There are three schools affiliated to the University of Management and Technology. These are the School of Science & Technology (SST), College of Commerce & Accountancy, School of Business & Economics (SBE) and School of Education & Arts. These schools offer degree courses in information technology, management sciences, commerce and economics, computer science, textiles, media and communications, educational management and technology.
The University of Management and Technology in Lahore is a private, as well as a non-profit educational institution. The aim of the institution is not merely to impart education to the students, but to imbibe them with ethical values, a secularized outlook and a spirit of serving the society. Presently, there are 3000 students studying at the University of Management and Technology.

The degrees awarded by the University of Management and Technology are the 4 years Bachelor’s Program, MS, M Phil, doctoral programs, masters programs and diplomas. The University also offers PHD programs.
The University of Management and Technology of Lahore also has a large number of laboratories fitted with the latest equipments. There are laboratories for chemical testing and wet processing, computer networks, digital systems and other projects. The University also houses an extensive collection of 50,000 books.
The Admission Procedure
Students aspiring to study in the University must fill in the application form available at the Office of Admissions. All required credentials should be attached with the form. Eligible candidates are short listed and called for an interview. The University of Management and Technology, Lahore has provisions for scholarships for the needy candidates.
Awards and Scholarships
There are a host of awards and scholarships bestowed upon the deserving candidates. These are the Khurram Murad Scholarships, National Color Holder Awards, Shaheed Hakim Said Scholarships, Justice A R Cornelius Scholarships, the alumni awards, the Dean’s Merit List Awards, Kinship Awards and the Rector’s Merit List Awards. Meritorious students are bestowed with research assistantships and teaching assistantships.
The University of Management and Technology in Lahore, has an excellent faculty that imparts quality education to the students. Presently, the University of Management and Technology is planning an extension of its campus in Johar Town, located in Lahore.
