University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore, situated on the Grand Trunk Road in Begumpura, is a premier engineering university in Pakistan. It is also referred to as the UET. It was established as the Mughalpura Technical College, in 1921. Its name was changed to the Maclagan Engineering College in 1923. It was affiliated to the University of Punjab in 1932. During this period, the university was entitled to award bachelor degrees in electrical, mechanical and civil engineering.
The university started awarding degrees in Mining Engineering in 1954. At present, the university offers a diverse range of disciplines among its taught programs. These include masters and doctoral programs. The vice chancellor is the executive head of the university.

The library houses an extensive collection of books. There are over 125,000 reference books and 60,000 science journals in the library.
Admissions procedure at the University of Engineering and Technology
The candidates are required to fill up an application form and attach the required credentials, such as mark-sheets of the previous examinations, age proof and other such documents, along with the form. All academic credentials submitted along with the application form, should be attested by a gazetted government official or by an A-Class officer of the university.
Fee structure and other campuses
The fee structure at the university is quite reasonable. Besides the main campus, there are various other campuses at the university. These are the Faisalabad campus, which will be transferred to Bypass Road and the Kalashah Kaku campus.
