Hazuri Bagh


Hazuri Bagh is a beautiful garden in the city of Lahore in Pakistan. It was built by Maharaja Ranjit Singh and is bounded by four important historical buildings and architectures on the four sides. In the center lies the Hazuri Bagh Baradari or the pavilion and is one of the famous tourist destinations in the city.

Hazuri Bagh is a famous tourist attraction of Lahore. It is a beautiful lush green garden to the eastern side of which lies the Lahore Fort and to its west is the Badshahi Mosque. The Samadhi of Ranjit Singh and the Roshnai Gate stand on the north and south respectively. The Hazuri Bagh beautifies the Hazuri Bagh Baradari, which was built by Ranjit Singh, a famous Sikh leader.
The garden was laid by Maharaja Ranjit Singh under the supervision of Faqir Azizuddin in the year 1813. It is during this time that Ranjit Singh captured Koh-i-noor, the world famous diamond, from Afghanistan's Shah Shujah. The garden was built to commemorate this achievement of the Sikh leader.

Hazuri Bagh at Lahore is open to public. On every Sunday, many people visit the beautiful garden of Hazuri Bagh in Lahore to listen to the traditional recitations by the local reciters. There are recitations of Punjabi Qisse like sassi Punnun, Heer Ranjha and other famous Punjabi Sufi Poems, during the weekend. The tourists in Lahore should make it a point to visit the Hazuri Bagh on a Sunday to enjoy the recitations.
