DHA Lahore is a housing authority, which was established on the 19th of March 1975, as Lahore Cantt Cooperative Housing Society. A management committee of eleven to fifteen members carried out the functions of the society. Later, on the 2nd of July, 1999 the LCCHS was converted into the Defense Housing Authority by a Provincial Ordinance which was followed by the Federal DHA Order passed on 19th September 2002.
Originally built for the army officers, the DHA has developed into one of the best and sophisticated living areas of the city. It is one of the posh lodging destinations, populated by the elite class including promising businessmen, celebrities, high military officers, politicians and foreigners of Pakistani origin.

Apart from this, plush housing complex also houses a number of branded shops and restaurants including Dunkin Donut's, KFC, McDonalds, and a Subway. The society offers to its residents a myriad of facilities. It houses two large market areas known as the Y-Block and the H- Block markets with a consortium of western shops and continental food joints. There are number of gift shops and fitness centers along with a well facilitated hospital with all modern medical facilities.
The DHA is popular for its lavish life style, luxurious settings, exclusive high priced shops, corporate offices, literate mass and a vibrant social life. In the recent years the DHA has undergone various developmental changes that has made it the best and the priciest place of the city.
