History of VU University
The VU University of Amsterdam was established in the year 1880 by ex-Prime Minister, Abraham Kuyper. Initially the University was only meant for Reformed Christian community and was even funded by their resources. However, since the 1960's, the University has been opened for all, although it still maintains its Christian values and traditions. The university has since then emerged as one of the leading Dutch universities.
