History as it never was
The Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival started as a small effort to introduce the various genres of film-making to the common people. The festival which had started in 1984, has come a long way and has taken shape as an expansive platform for cultural exchange. A lot has changed in the last 24 years, but the craze remains the same.
In the previous years, the film screenings at the Fantastic Film Festival of Amsterdam were constricted to genres like horror, fantasy and sci-fi. With time, there has been many new additions to the list which can be categorized into programs like:

Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival At Present
At present, the Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival is not restricted to film screening only. It has become a gateway for new film makers to be judged and recognized on the basis of their skills. The films that are adjudged the best are awarded under three different categories: the Melies Awards ,the self-explanatory Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Silver Screen Award.
While the movie buffs can take pleasure in the screening of the national and the international movies, film-making enthusiasts can always join the workshops and conferences organized by the film festival to know more about the technicalities of film making. You can also get to meet some of the most popular film-makers who could provide tips on the nuances of film-making, which is particularly helpful for film-makers in the making.
The 24th Amsterdam Fantastic Film Festival will be held from the 9th of April to 20th of April, 2008. The venue as yet is not decided.
