Council Committees of Amsterdam is a very important governing body of the city. The members of the city council including the eight aldermen form these committees.
Council Committees of Amsterdam form one of the most important parts of the Amsterdam government. These are also known as the Advisory Committees of Amsterdam. These committees comprise the members of the city council. The aldermen are also included within the governing body of the committees.
The Nine Committees
Council Committees of Amsterdam include nine committees. Meetings are organized every second week of the month. Residents as well as the civil servants of Amsterdam attend these meetings.

Public Participation
People who write suggestion or complaint letters to the council can have a say in these meetings. These meetings are also attended by the associate councilors, i.e. the smaller party representatives who have not being elected as a member of the city council.
Function of These Committees
The main function of the Amsterdam Council Committees is to discuss over the proposals for further proceedings. The city council takes charge of these proposals only after they are being discussed by the members of the committees.
