History of Amsterdamse Bos
Amsterdamse Bos is located in the southwest part of the city. The proposal for the creation of this forest was made in early 1900s. However, it took several years to materialize this proposal. The construction of this artificial forest offered some good employment opportunities to the natives.
Amsterdamse Bos - An Oasis of Peace
Amsterdamse Bos seems to be larger than its actual size because of its strategic design. The forest covers about 935 acres of land. The forest comprises of a hilly area, wide paths, old big trees, ponds, bridges, playgrounds as well as a shallow pool. The flowering trees enhance the charm of this forest. The forest is home to nearly 150 species of trees and 200 species of birds. You can hear the chirping of birds, especially nightingales in the twilight.
Recreational Facilities in Amsterdamse Bos
Amsterdamse Bos houses an open air theater, where various cultural shows are held. Paddle boats are available on a rental basis in the pond. The forest also includes cycle paths as well as motorways.
