The Netherlands is the main part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Belgium and Germany are its neighboring countries. The North Sea has touched its northern fringe. Netherlands is below than the sea-level in several places. The world famous Dutch dikes protect Netherlands from being inundated by sea. The Netherlands is associated with windmills. This country is a famous name for its dependency on renewable energy like the wind power.
Netherlands famous include food and beverage processing, metallurgy, production of chemical and petroleum products, and electrical and electronics machines as well as textile production.
- Amsterdam : Amsterdam is the capital and main city of the Netherlands. World's oldest stock exchange the Amsterdam Stock Exchange is located in Amsterdam. It is a major cultural, commercial and tourism center. It boasts of several museums and around 200 live performance platforms. Many corporate majors have established their headquarters in Amsterdam. Some of them are: ABN AMRO, Akzo Nobel, Heineken International, ING Group, Ahold, TomTom, Delta Lloyd Group and Philips, KPMG etc.
- Rotterdam : Rotterdam is the largest seaport of Europe. Apart from commerce, Rotterdam is known for its cultural activities. International Film Festival, annual international marathon and summer carnival are some of the major activities of this city. Companies like Unilever and Mittal Steel Company N.V. have major bases here.
- The Hague : The Hague is the bastion of Dutch government. The Queen resides here. Many international organizations have bases here. International Criminal Court is one of them.
