Manisha Koirala is a renowned Indian actress, who won many awards and nominated several time for her brilliant performances. This beautiful actress of Bollywood has acted in more than 60 films. She was greatly appreciated for her excellent performance in hit films like Bombay, Saudagar and 1942 A Love Story.

Manisha Koirala and the Royal Family of Nepal

On 16th August 1970, Manisha Koirala was born to the royal family in Kathmandu, Nepal. Her parents called her by the name of Manu or Manya. Manisha Koirala's grandfather Mr. B.P. Koirala was the prime minister of Nepal between the 50's and the 60's. Her uncle M.P. Koirala and G.P. Koirala were the Prime Ministers during the early 50's and 90's respectively.

Manisha Koirala's Life and Career

Manisha was brought up in Varanasi, India by her paternal grandmother, where she acquired formal education from Vasant Kanya Mahavidyalaya. After coming to Delhi, she studied at the Army Public School. On the completion of her school education, she intended to take up the study of medicine and pursue her career as a doctor. But at the same time she was also interested in modeling. This passion led her to act in a Nepali movie named Pheri Betaula in the year 1989. She has trained herself in Manipuri and Bharatnatyam dance.

Manisha Koirala and Bollywood

Manisha Koirala made her debut in Bollywood in the year 1991 with the film Saudagar. She was introduced by the famous director Subhash Ghai, opposite her co-star Vivek Mushran. The film turned out to be a major success. The movies of Manisha Koirala like First Love Letter (1991), Dhanwan (1993) and Yalgaar (1992) earned great appreciation from audiences leading her to the peak of success. Her role in 1942 A Love Story, which is a film by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, was highly appreciated.
