Tugu Negara was constructed to commemorate the death of those who died in the national struggle of Malaysia. It was designed by Felix de Weldon of USMC War Memorial fame.
Tugu Negara is situated in Kuala Lumpur at close proximity to the Malaysian Houses of Parliament. This majestic sculpture celebrates the Malaysian national struggle, which took place between 1948 and 1960. During the period between the Second World War and Malayan Emergency, a large of the Malaysian people died in their strife to gain independence. This monument of Kuala Lumpur commemorates the death of those who died in the freedom struggle of Malaysia.

strength. Every year, the Prime Minister and the military heads of Kuala Lumpur pay reverence to the martyrs on 31st July by laying flowers and wreaths.
Tugu Negara in Kuala Lumpur had been a concrete column. However, subsequently it was reconstructed and tall human figures were erected in place of the column. Tugu Negara was the brainchild of Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, erstwhile Malaysian Prime Minister. The construction of this monument started in 1963 and was completed by 1966. The monument was opened for the public in the month of February in the same year.
Tugu Negara of Kuala Lumpur was designed by Felix de Weldon, an Austrian sculptor. This Austrian sculptor is accredited for constructing USMC War Memorial in the US. The monument has a granite base with an inscription etched out in Jawi and Roman script. The inscription sings about the martyrs of the 1st and 2nd World Wars. It also refers to the people who died during Malaysian Emergency.
