One of the emblematic tourist centers of Kuala Lumpur is the Petrosains, an interactive center for the study of science. Established for the entertainment of the people, the concept and content of the scientific center has been developed in a way to inculcate knowledge about the petroleum industry in the visitors.
The twin towers of Petrosains are one of the most popular hallmarks of Kuala Lumpur city. Spread over a sprawling area of 100,000 square feet, the modern museum is the repository of a number of exhibits, such as smoking volcanoes and singing dinosaurs.
Live scientific demonstrations are conducted in Petrosains at Kuala Lumpur for the children. The exhibits at the museum are highly interactive. Apart from entertaining the guests, the museum is also a storehouse of information.
Journey through Petrosains
The visitors move from the lobby area to the section for water sculptures. The lobby comprises of the model of the Sauber PETRONAS Formula One racing car.This leads to the dark ride cabin, which informs the visitors about the petroleum resource and industry.The ride

also takes the visitors through the rainforests of Malaysia.Petrojaya is the next stop, which replicates a cartoon village with hi-tech models on display. The Geotime Diorama comprises of rumbling volcanoes and exhibits from the prehistoric ages. The exhibits show the biological, chemical, climatic and geological influences on environment. Apart from ambling through the exhibits, the visitors may also engage in stimulating activities. Tenaga Energy section is the last stop at Petrosains.
Petrosains and Other Associations
The center at Petrosains, Kuala Lumpur collaborates with other associations such as European Collaborative for Science Industry and Technology Exhibitions (ECSITE), Asia Pacific Network of Science and Technology (ASPAC) and Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC).
Petrosains in Kuala Lumpur remains open from 9.30 A.M to 6.30 P.M on Saturdays and Sundays. Between Tuesdays and Thursdays, the museum remains open between 9.30 A.M and 5.30 P.M. On Fridays, Petrosains remains open between 1.30 and 5.30 P.M. An entrance fee of RM 12 and RM 4 is charged for the adults and children respectively.
