Petronas Twin Tower Kuala Lumpur

The magnificent building of the Petronas Twin Tower is the pride of Malaysia. The tower is an epitome of science, automation, technology and engineering.

Petronas Twin Tower at Kuala Lumpur was built in the year 1996 and was opened to the public in the year 1998. A fine example of intelligence, automation and technology, the tower was designed by Cesar Pelli, one of the renowned architects of the world.

The 452 meters high structure, with 88 stories, has been recognized as the second largest building of the world. The design of the building is an amalgamation of Islamic and modern form of architecture.

The tower facade has been beautifully constructed with horizontal ribbons of vision glass and stainless steel. This adds to the grandeur of the building as it shines with the sun rays kissing its surface. The pinnacles of the twin towers are 73.5 meters high. As each tower of the structure is supported by a 44-storied annexe, additional office space is available.

The interiors of the tower have been stylized in a traditional Malaysian pattern. An artistic use of the souvenirs and artifacts exhibits the cultural heritage of Malaysia.

Sky Bridge at the Twin Towers, Kuala Lumpur

The twin towers is inter linked by a 58.4 meters long, double decked sky bridge at the 41st and 42nd floors, with its arc marking the entrance to the Kuala Lumpur City Center. The bridge is at a height of 170 meters above the ground level. It is also a popular attraction as it gives a panoramic bird's eye view of the city. The floors that mark the entrance of the bridge are also called podiums from where the visitors can take lifts and escalators to the other higher sections of the tower.

Although the sky bridge is open for the public on all
weekdays except for Monday, public access is made available only on the 41st floor as the second deck on the 42nd floor is only meant for the use of the tenants of the tower. The bridge also serves as the evacuation unit at the time of emergency.

The elevator system of the twin towers is quite sophisticated. The elevators are also double decked.
