National Zoo Kuala Lumpur is a major attraction for the local people as well as the tourists visiting the city. The zoo houses a great variety of fauna of Malaysia. Located at a distance of about 13 kilometers to the north west of the city, it is an important destination for tours from Kuala Lumpur. The National Zoo in Malaysia, which is also the first zoo of the country, is also known as the Negara Zoo.
National Zoo Kuala Lumpur was inaugurated on the 14th of November 1963. The zoo is spread over an area of about 110 acres of land. It is looked by after by the Malaysian Zoological Society. There are other modes of excitement for the kids in the children's corner. People can also take a stroll in the soothing ambiance of Savannah grasslands, which is surrounded by greenery on all sides.
The Kuala Lumpur National Zoo is open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays. During weekends and public holidays, it is open from 5:00 pm to 10:30 pm. The main aim of the zoo is conservation, recreation, research and education. As a result the zoo attracts people from all over the world.
