The city of Kuala Lumpur was established by a group of tin merchants in the 19th century. Kuala Lumpur was located in the heart of the Selangor State. This brought the city under the control of the Selangor State Government. Later in the year 1974, The Malaysian Federal Government separated the city from the Selangor State. Kuala Lumpur city now emerged as part of the Federal Territory under the governance of the Malaysian Federal Government.
