The various Kuala Lumpur Ethnic Groups constitute the population of the Malaysian capital. Kuala Lumpur is a cosmopolitan city and its people belong to various cultures and ethnic races. The major races or ethnic groups that form the bulk of the Kuala Lumpur population are Malays, Indians and Chinese. The other minor groups living in Kuala Lumpur are Indians and Orang Asli.

Indians

The Indians represent the 3rd largest ethnic group of Kuala Lumpur. Majority of the Indians that live in Kuala Lumpur, speak either Hindi or Tamil. These colorful and vibrant people practice Hinduism and observe many festivals throughout the year. Most of the Indians are engaged in the business sector.

Orang Asli

Orang Asli is a native race living in Peninsular Malaysia. Originally hunters and farmers, this indigenous group of people has now started adopting a lifestyle that is commercial in nature. Although majority of them reside in the villages near the city, some have drifted to the city proper in order to lead a better life.

The rich heritage of Kuala Lumpur is a perfect blend of the cultures and customs of many ethnic groups, who have been living for many years in and around the city.
