Beirut International Film Festival


Beirut International Film Festival programs include screening of films of International fame, competitions are also organized among amateur film-makers.

The Beirut International Film Festival is organized by the Beirut Film Foundation. Organized from the 3rd of October till the 10th of October, 2007, the 8th Beirut International Film Festival focused on films from the middle east that included countries like Egypt, UAE, Kuwait, Tunis, Yemen, Oman, Palestine and many more. The venues for this event in Beirut were Sofil Empire theater and the Concorde Planete theater.

The Beirut International Film Festival acts as an idyllic platform for amateur film makers. Competitions are held in the categories of feature films and short films, which open avenues for nouveau film makers to establish their talents.

Attended by world famous directors, producers, actors and film critics, the Beirut International Film Festival has attained a universal stature. The guest lists also include 7 members from the International Film and Art Community who form the Jury in the event.

Screening various national and international films like Bent Hammer's 'Factotum', Laila Marrakchi's “Marrock”, the Beirut International Film Festival also include film screenings in genres like 35 mm, 16 mm, Feature, Betacam and Short. A tribute to a famous on-screen personality also forms an integral part of the programs in the Beirut International Film Festival. Some of the other popular films that have been shown in the past few years include:

The seeds of the Beirut International Film Festival were sown with a vision to create a nation that had a strong cultural platform, that stands out for its all encompassing nature. This is what has driven organizers like Lara Lee of Gund and Lee Foundation and Alice Edde of Edde Sand to promote and support this International festival in the years to come.
