A university that made a commendable effort in providing excellent education, American University of Science & Technology, Beirut was granted a license, under the Presidential Decree of 3585, to form a separate entity as a private non-sectarian co-educational institution in the year 2000.
Initially recognized with the name of American University if Beirut, it became a center of controversy after the oldest university in Lebanon accused the University for acquiring a foreign name. Thereafter, the University was forced to rename itself as the American University College of Science and Technology. Recently, in the year 2007, university was renamed as the American University of Science
and Technology under a government command.
