The water from the dams goes through a process of thorough treatment before being supplied to the residents of Nairobi. The first stage involves coagulation and sedimentation by which the heavy particles are removed through alum treatment. This is followed by the processes of filtration, chlorination, stabilization and subsequently storage. The water that finally reaches the households conforms to WHO (World Heath Organization) standards.
