New Central Bank Tower, located on the Haile Selassi Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya is the tallest building in Eastern and Central Africa. It is also known as Times Tower Building or Times Tower complex. The total area covered by the building is 60, 000 square meter.
Inside New Central Bank Tower
Designed by the Triad Architects, the tower was completed in the year 1997. The building has 38 floors with a roof height of 140 meters. The building consists of a car parking area, which has 11 floors. There is also a banking complex comprising 7 floors of the tower building. There 6 elevators in the building. The foundation of the building is laid on two basements. It has been constructed on a raft made out of concrete and having a thickness of .9m to 3m. Functions of New Central Bank Tower
Kenya Revenue Authority is the only renter of the building, who uses the building for administration purpose and tax subsidence. The Electronic Cash Registers, which has been installed in the building, is necessary device for paying taxes by all businessmen residing in Kenya. During the time of payment a huge queue is formed near the tower.
Building Security
There is very strong security outside an inside the building. Anybody who wants to enter must be screened through metal detectors used by security guards. The visitors need to show either a Kenyan ID of local visitors or the passport from tourists.
