Nairobi Government


Nairobi Government comprises primarily the Nairobi City Council headed by the Mayor of Nairobi. Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and is hence the administrative nerve center of the nation. The local government of Nairobi or Nairobi government is responsible for looking after the welfare and city infrastructure of Nairobi city.

Nairobi City Council

The Nairobi City has 75 wards and all these wards have an elected councilor. These councilors are elected by the residents of Nairobi city and represents the general population. All issues related to administration, health and socio political issues are looked after by these councilors. The councilors of Nairobi vote to power the Mayor of Nairobi city.
For smooth running of the government the city council has been segregated into several departments, including the Education Department, Water and sewerage, City Treasury, Town Clerk and Human Resources Department.

Nairobi Mayor

The present mayor of Nairobi is Dick Mwangi Wathica and he is presently serving the second time as the Nairobi mayor. In all these years, he has done much for the betterment of the black population of Nairobi, Kenya. Mr. Wathica stood for the parliamentary elections in the year, 2007. As the mayor of Nairobi he has worked in unison with his co-workers to serve the larger necessities of the residents.
