Nairobi City Stadium is a small stadium mainly used for playing football tournaments and other sports as well. The Nairobi City Council is the owner of the stadium. The stadium can accommodate 15000 people at a time. Nairobi City Stadium in Nairobi, Kenya, lies on the eastern side of city center.

Nairobi City Stadium was of great importance since many years. Many events were held at the venue.
In the year 1979, a great athletic event was held at the stadium. Reputed athletes and players who participated in this competition were Henry Rono, Alberto Salazar and Edwin Moses. However, with the emergence of the Nyayo and Kasarani stadiums, the functions of Nairobi City Stadium have been overshadowed.

The Name Game
Nairobi City Stadium was earlier known by different names. At first it was known as African Stadium. Gradually, the name changed to Donholm Road Stadium. After Kenya became independent in the year 1963, the name again changed to Jogoo Road Stadium. Finally it acquired the present name-City Stadium.
Activities at Nairobi City Stadium
The city stadium is also booked for organizing activities like religious meetings, dance programs, musical concerts. Booking is accepted by the stadium manager. During the event, the manager is responsible to ensure safety measure with e help of security personnel. The manager is also responsible to keep the stadium well equipped and the field in good state.
