Kenya Airways was founded in February 1977. A prominent airline company of the country, Kenya Airways was formed as a result of division of the East African Community and the dissolution of the East African Airways.

In the year of 1986, the Government of Kenya took the first step in the direction of privatization of the Kenya Airways. Kenya Airways finally became a private organization in 1992. The year 1993-94 saw huge revenue turnout for the airline company.
